Easy to Spot Reasons Your Engine May be Overheating

The reason it can be a challenge for the average driver to diagnose why the car engine is overheating is because it can be one of a number of causes. Here are some easy to identify causes of an overheating engine:
  1. Once the car is cooled down, look to see if the radiator cap is tight. Sometimes drivers leave the cap off unintentionally after filling the radiator with coolant.
  2. Inspect the radiator hose clamps. If the clamps are rusted are have become loose, they will allow coolant to escape when the engine is running.
  3. See if the fan belts that move the water pump are still intact. If the belt is loose or missing, the pump cannot move the coolant around the engine and to the radiator to be cooled off.
